Guide

How ZooPlanet is used: installing the app, adding an animal and keeping its journal as a volunteer, and what each pane of the shelter administration does. If you are deciding whether to adopt or donate, the “How it works” page is shorter and written for you.

Who this is for

This guide is for people who have an account and a job to do in it — volunteers who photograph and describe animals, and shelter administrators who run the roster, the finances and the settings.

You do not have to be signed in to read it. These pages are public on purpose: the link usually reaches the shelter's group chat, or an invitation, before the app is installed, and a guide that only exists after sign-in cannot do that job.

Where to start

  1. Install the app from the link in your invitation and sign in with the account the shelter opened for you.
  2. Open the “Mine” tab and look at the animals assigned to you.
  3. Photograph one animal and post it to the journal — that is the task that repeats every day and it is the quickest to learn.
  4. If something does not work, read “Common questions” before calling anybody.

A photo waiting in the send queue is safe. There is no need to take it again, even if the phone has had no signal for days.

Three parts

The guide has three parts and each one can be read on its own.

  • The app — installing, signing in, the tabs, working offline, and the camera.
  • Volunteer work — adding an animal, the journal, animal of the day, adoption, and reporting content.
  • Shelter administration — seven panes: overview, volunteers, finance, settings, usage, audit, and the app.

When you are stuck

If the answer is not here, write to kontakt@zooplanet.org. Content reports and account deletion requests reach the same address.

This guide grows with the application. Its screenshots are generated automatically from test data, so no real animal and no real account appears in any of them.
