About us
ZooPlanet is a volunteer project from Serbia that connects animal shelters with people who want to cover one specific animal's monthly costs. We charge neither shelters nor donors a commission. Donations are processed via Stripe, earmarked for the animal, shelter, campaign or project you choose, and remitted to the named shelter; gifts to the project stay with ZooPlanet.
Why this exists
Shelters in Serbia struggle every day with a shortage of food, medicine and space, and most of the people who want to help cannot adopt an animal. A general donation is abstract, and it is hard to see what came of it. So the unit of this site is one animal and one list of its real costs: when you can see that keeping a particular dog costs a specific amount in euros each month, the decision becomes concrete, and the shelter gets predictable income for that animal.
How we work
Shelters maintain their own pages and their own animals' profiles — the photographs, the description, the list of items and the prices. We keep the site running, process donations via Stripe, earmark them, and remit shelter-bound gifts by bank transfer. We do not issue tax receipts and we do not give tax advice. Anything we claim on the site should also be visible on the site.
Who we are
The project was built and is run on a voluntary basis by Marko Dinić, Marko Aleksić, Dušan Manić and Nikola Ristić. We do it in our own time, unpaid, with no employees. If you would like to help with your work, report a problem, or get your shelter a page on the site, the contact page is the right place.
